If you are just getting to know me, you'll soon come to realize I have a deep passion for books. One of my core values is to never stop learning, and books are central to fulfilling that value in my own life. I've developed an unquenchable curiosity to learn through my journey through many books over the past several years. Many people ask me for my top recommendations and I wanted to consolidate somewhat of a list for your convenience.

It’s not just another self-help motivation tool of methods you must learn in order to travel the path to success.

This book was a recalibration game changer for me in my life. Sometimes when you have big goals you forget that truly your destiny is shaped in each and every moment of decision. Each day we make many decisions which ultimately impact our outcome. The difference in those who create the life they want and those who don’t are the compounding effect of making the right decisions.

With penetrating intelligence and an ability to distill vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives, Duhigg brings to life a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential for transformation.

Our life is shaped by our habits. It’s incredible how our minds can accomplish so much subconsciously, without using unnecessary energy towards conscious thought. I loved this book and it helped me get rid of several bad habits by fully understanding the psychology behind what was influencing me!

Sapiens

Yuval Noah Harari

From a renowned historian comes a groundbreaking narrative of humanity’s creation and evolution—a #1 international bestseller—that explores the ways in which biology and history have defined us and enhanced our understanding of what it means to be “human.”

WOW! This was one of the most fun reads I have ever had the pleasure of devouring. I could hardly put it down by how fascinating we’ve come as a species , where society originated from and how it’s evolved to today. Not only was it fascinating and filled my curiosity cup to the brim, but it helped me become a more effective business leader and influencer by how I learned how to best transfer influence to other human beings. I highly recommend this book.

Start with why

Simon Sinek

Start with Why shows that the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way -- and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with WHY.

I thought I knew the message of this book before reading it. To me, “Start With Why” was fairly obvious in today’s business landscape of purposeful outcome. But by reading this message, it truly anchored the message deeper within my intellect and within my biology to truly lead with purpose. Communicate that purpose to your target audience. Lead your people with a purpose aligned with what will fulfill them. This is a phenomenal book and one I will revisit for years to come.

Benjamin franklin

Walter Isaacson

In this authoritative and engrossing full-scale biography, Walter Isaacson, bestselling author of Einstein and Steve Jobs, shows how the most fascinating of America's founders helped define our national character.

I came to truly love Ben Franklin from this outstanding Biography! I am so grateful for who he was, the example he set, and the results he accomplished to create modern day society. Not only was he a world changer by creating electricity, but he was a diplomat who forged many of the freedoms that we experience in America and around the world today. He did it all with fun, humor, fearlessness, intellect and wisdom. I love how he was one of the first personal development thought leaders as well - a man well ahead of his time.

Traction

Gino Wickman

In Traction, you’ll learn the secrets of strengthening the six key components of your business. You’ll discover simple yet powerful ways to run your company that will give you and your leadership team more focus, more growth, and more enjoyment. Successful companies are applying Traction every day to run profitable, frustration-free businesses—and you can too.

This is a business system building bible! My company is working towards a full implementation of the EOS (Entreprenuer Operating System) and it’s already worked wonders in how we collaborate with directed purpose. I recommend this for anyone operating in business because when systems are solidified we don’t have to run on our own personality of how we feel in that particular moment.

Meditations

Marcus Aurelius

Meditations is a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor 161–180 CE, setting forth his ideas on Stoic philosophy.Marcus Aurelius wrote the 12 books of the Meditations in Koine Greek as a source for his own guidance and self-improvement. It is possible that large portions of the work were written at Sirmium, where he spent much time planning military campaigns from 170 to 180. Some of it was written while he was positioned at Aquincum on campaign in Pannonia, because internal notes tell us that the second book was written when he was campaigning against the Quadi on the river Granova (modern-day Hron) and the third book was written at Carnuntum. It is not clear that he ever intended the writings to be published, so the title Meditations is but one of several commonly assigned to the collection. These writings take the form of quotations varying in length from one sentence to long paragraphs.

Marcus Aeuelius was a man of profound wisdom. No one was suppose to read his writings published in this classic treasure, as they were really his private thoughts. It causes me to realize how impermanent the conditions of today are, and how eternal our souls are. This is a hugely impactful read!

Never eat alone

Keith Ferrazzi

In Never Eat Alone, Ferrazzi lays out the specific steps—and inner mindset—he uses to reach out to connect with the thousands of colleagues, friends, and associates on his Rolodex, people he has helped and who have helped him

This is a phenomenal read and illustrates exactly how to build a network full of depth and true value. Networking always seemed like a dirty word for me before I truly understood what it meant by reading this book. Offering value to others without any expectation for return is the way to build deep and meaningful relationships.

Shoe Dog

Phil Knight

In this instant and tenacious bestseller, Nike founder and board chairman Phil Knight “offers a rare and revealing look at the notoriously media-shy man behind the swoosh” (Booklist, starred review), illuminating his company’s early days as an intrepid start-up and its evolution into one of the world’s most iconic, game-changing, and profitable brands

This book is an absolute adventure! Phil Knight is one of my heros and the brand/empire he created against all odds is hugely inspirational to me. I also nearly came to tears at times during the book and at other times was laughing out loud.
