It was great to welcome KC Conway to the show for a special economic edition of Elevate! KC is the CCIM Institute Chief Economist and Director of Research and Corporate Engagement at the Alabama Center for Real Estate. He has 35 years of commercial real estate experience, with 30 years in the private industry and five within the Federal Reserve system (2005-2010). He also serves on the Monmouth MREIC Board of Directors, and he has been an MAI since 1989 and a Counselor of Real Estate since 2009. He specializes in real estate valuation, market analyses, industry speaking and Ports and Logistics.
In this special edition, Tyler and KC analyzed the economic complexities for the commercial real estate industry presented by COVID-19. KC gave his predictions of the impact on various commercial real estate asset classes, including multifamily (workforce and student housing), retail, hotel, hospitality, office and industrial. He also shared his analysis of the Federal Reserve’s intervention, fiat currencies and the importance of owning tangible real estate assets as it relates to inflation.
Other economic topics included the future of the U.S. dollar, anecdotal indicators that suggest a timeline for recovery, short and long-term impacts on the debt and equity markets, what-if thinking, “greatest generation behavior” and more. He concluded the show a timely quote from Winston Churchill:
“It is not given to human beings, happily for them, for otherwise life would be intolerable, to foresee or to predict to any large extent the unfolding course of events.”
KC provided a wealth of economic information, several great resources and actionable steps for real estate investors and entrepreneurs in this highly educational episode!
